JN Money Partners with WapiPay to Expand Remittance Options to Jamaica

Horace Hines, General Manager, JN Money Services, shares a moment with co-founders of WapiPay, Edward Ndichu and Paul Ndichu following the signing of their partnership agreement with the Kenya-based company to support payments to Jamaica through WapiPay's global network. JN Money will serve exclusively as the local payout conduit, using its established remittance infrastructure to deliver funds to recipients in Jamaica.

JN Money Services has partnered with fintech company, WapiPay, to expand the range of remittance options available to Jamaicans and strengthen payment links between Jamaica and international markets.

Founded in Singapore in 2019, and operating from offices in Nairobi, Kenya and Kampala in Uganda, WapiPay is a cross-border payments company that helps individuals, merchants and businesses send money internationally through a single digital platform.

Having established payment corridors across Africa, Asia, the United Kingdom and the United States, the fintech company is now positioning Jamaica as its gateway to one of the world’s largest remittance markets, reflecting its broader strategy to connect more international markets through seamless cross-border payments.

The partnership with JN Money follows its receipt of regulatory approval to operate in Jamaica earlier this year. The approval means WapiPay will gain access to JN Money’s established payout infrastructure while allowing the Jamaican remittance brand to broaden its network of international remittance partners, as it continues to strengthen its footprint in critical diaspora markets and countries worldwide.

Under the arrangement, WapiPay customers will be able to send money to Jamaica for cash collection at JN Money locations across the country or have funds deposited directly into recipients’ local bank accounts.

Horace Hines, general manager for JN Money Services, said the partnership aligns with the company’s broader strategy of expanding convenient and reliable remittance services for Jamaicans and their families.

The move is also expected to strengthen financial connections between Jamaica and overseas markets, particularly as digital-first remittance providers continue to compete for customers seeking fast and seamless international money transfers.

“We are deliberate about building strategic partnerships that expand the ways customers can send money to Jamaica while making the remittance experience more convenient, accessible and reliable,” he said. “As customer needs continue to evolve and demand for digital financial services grows, we remain focused on identifying innovative solutions and strengthening our network to better serve Jamaicans and their families, wherever they are in the world.”

Through the partnership with WapiPay, JN Money will significantly expand the reach of its international remittance network, building on its presence in 18 countries across the globe, including neighbouring Cayman Islands, Antigua, Guyana and Turks and Caicos in the Caribbean.

“We build partnerships that help us keep Jamaicans and their families connected. As Jamaicans continue to build lives in new markets, including across Africa, Asia and other regions where WapiPay has established a strong presence, this partnership allows us to connect more of them with their families back home by providing another safe, convenient and reliable way to send money to Jamaica,” Mr Hines shared.

Commenting on the Caribbean’s growing need for faster, more affordable and more transparent cross-border payment solutions, Josephat Nelson Mados, WapiPay country director for Jamaica, pointed out that JN Money was the natural partner because of its trusted brand, deep local market expertise, established remittance infrastructure and strong customer reach.

“Together, WapiPay and JN Money are well positioned to connect the Caribbean more efficiently with Africa, North America, the United Kingdom, Asia and other key global corridors,” he said. “Customers will benefit from a more efficient payment experience built around competitive pricing, faster processing, greater transparency and improved convenience. The partnership is designed to give customers clearer visibility on fees, foreign exchange rates, transaction status and settlement outcomes, while expanding access to reliable cross-border payment services through trusted channels.”

He said WapiPay has enhanced its platform to support easy integration with partners, automated routing of payments, real-time transaction tracking, compliance with regulatory requirements, reconciliation of payments, settlement tracking and partner reporting.

“These enhancements ensure the service is scalable, compliant, operationally efficient, and ready to support both individual and business payment use cases,” he said.

JN Money’s growing portfolio of global partners also includes Mastercard Transaction Services, which supports cross-border remittance capabilities for customers in the United Kingdom (UK), United States of America (USA), Canada and the Cayman Islands, and DHL Express, through which a premium experience has been created for customers in the Cayman Islands remitting funds through JN Money Services and shipping packages through DHL.
