TAKE THE STEPS... JN Group Power of Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign

2 min read

Come October, The Jamaica National Group will roll out its annual Power of Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign for the fifth year, under the theme, “Take the Steps”.

As the name of the theme suggests, the activities surrounding the campaign are expected to educate and raise awareness about the STEPS that can be taken to detect breast cancer as early as possible.

The STEPS as outlined in the campaign are:

  1. Take the Steps…Feel yourself (conduct a self-examination)
  2. Take the Steps…Get Checked (do your mammogram as recommended)
  3. Take the Steps…Be Grateful (self-care), and finally
  4. Take the Steps…Give Back (donate to cancer research)

Several member companies across the Group will be participating in the campaign through different ways by mounting signature “Take the Steps” awareness events, making donations, conducting awareness activities and giveaways, to name a few.

Funds will also be raised through donations to provide 500 women with FREE mammograms.

Additionally, JN Group members will also benefit from special discounts on relevant products from our member companies.

Breast cancer is the leading cancer among Jamaican women. In 2020 alone, there were 1,208 new cases of breast cancer in Jamaica- an increase from 974 cases in 2018. Deaths from breast cancer have also been rising, increasing from 56.8 deaths for every 100,000 a few years ago to 66.9 per 100,000 women.

Look out for more about the Power of Pink campaign during October and join the fight!
