2 min read

Ms Daidrey DaSilva, Branch Manager for the Jamaica Cancer Society St. Ann and St. Mary chapter brings remarks on behalf of the Jamaica Cancer Society.

The Jamaica National Group executed its annual Power of Pink Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign for the fifth year, under the theme, “Take the Steps,” in an effort to raise awareness about the STEPS that can be taken to fight against breast cancer.

The STEPS as outlined in the campaign were:

  1. Take the Steps…Feel Yourself
  2. Take the Steps…Get Checked
  3. Take the Steps…Be Grateful
  4. Take the Steps…Give Back

Several member companies across the Group participated in the campaign through different ways through donations, raising awareness and giveaways, to include 500 free mammograms.

The launch event, dubbed the JN Group Power of Pink Pop-Up Session was held on October 7 outside the JN Bank Half Way Tree Branch. The event saw performances from recording artistes Etana, Dr. Carlene Davis and Papito Ferguson, a motivational speech from Dr Davis, who is also a breast cancer survivor and a testimonial from breast cancer survivor and Associate Clinical Psychologist Kamala McWhinney. Pink smoothies, juices and other refreshments were provided to attendees.

A final pop-up session with a similar line up was also held at the Ocho Rios Branch on October 21, 2022. See the highlights from both events below:
