Onyka Barrett Scott

    Executive Associate Principal

    Onyka Barrett Scott assumed the position of Executive Associate Principal in the JN Consult Research Unit in July 2022, responsible to support the long term growth and sustainability of the JN Group.  She was previously Executive, Multilateral Relations of The Jamaica National Group, with responsibility to secure multilateral funding from donors for projects which align with the work and values of the JN Foundation.

    Mrs Barrett Scott was General Manager of the JN Foundation between 2018 to 2020.  She has more than 16 years of experience working with multilaterals, international and local NGO’s. Her dedication to human & economic development has allowed her to create and direct projects and collaborate with multiple partners across the Caribbean, Latin America, Kenya and Ghana. She has significant experience strategizing with Government Agencies across several Caribbean territories to create initiatives that address key national priorities. Mrs. Barrett Scott’s key areas of focus in her career have included sustainable development, social enterprise development, triple bottom line impact, national policy development and human resource development.

    During the period 2015 to 2017, she was the co-chair of the Social Enterprise Policy Committee, an initiative of the Planning Institute of Jamaica and Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries. Through her leadership, the committee was able to realize the goal of the inclusion of a supporting framework for the operation of social enterprises in Jamaica – a first – under the revised MSME & Entrepreneurship Policy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange.

    She holds the MSc, Development Studies (with Distinction) from SALISES, UWI, a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance, CIHC – Fordham University (USA) and a BA (Hons), Human Resource Management, Anglia Ruskin University (UK).
