Executive, Multilateral Relations

    Onyka Barrett Scott was appointed Executive, Multilateral Relations in the JN Group CEO’s Office in December 2020.  In this role, she will be responsible for securing multilateral funding from donors for projects which align with the values of the JN Foundation.  Mrs Barrett Scott was previously General Manager of the JN Foundation, a position she held since April 2018.

    She is a senior practitioner dedicated to eradicating poverty and reducing inequalities that exist in societies and has more than fifteen years’ experience working with multilaterals, international and local NGO’s. Her dedication to the upliftment of people has allowed her to create and direct projects and collaborate with multiple partners across the Caribbean, Latin America, Kenya and Ghana. She has significant experience strategizing with Government Agencies across several Caribbean territories to create initiatives that address key national priorities. Mrs. Barrett Scott’s key areas of focus in her career have included poverty reduction, national volunteerism, human rights advocacy, national policy development and human resource development. She is particularly noted for her big picture thinking, results-oriented attitude and collaborative approach.

    Having worked in both the Corporate and NGO sector, she brings a unique perspective to the field of social development. From 2007 – 2011, she was appointed by Cabinet in Trinidad & Tobago to serve on the Inter-Ministerial Committee responsible for monitoring the Convention on the Rights of the Child  and National Plan of Action for Children. During the period 2015 to 2017, she was the co-chair of the Social Enterprise Policy Committee, an initiative of the Planning Institute of Jamaica and Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture & Fisheries. Through her leadership, the committee was able to realize the goal of the inclusion of a supporting framework for the operation of social enterprises in Jamaica – a first – under the revised MSME & Entrepreneurship Policy. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange.

    She holds the MSc, Development Studies (with Distinction) from SALISES, UWI, a Post Graduate Diploma in Humanitarian Assistance, CIHC – Fordham University (USA) and a BA (Hons), Human Resource Management, Anglia Ruskin University (UK).
